Finger Snappin and Lickin Good Time

My iPhone died on Saturday…Completely died. Goodbye, Sayonara, Asta LaVista!
I lost all of my pictures from it. Me…sad.

I had taken some really cool pictures of my night out on Friday. But…pictures…Gone. Waaaahhh!

My Mom and I went out for dinner at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino. We had a coupon for 2 free appetizers, 2 free entrees, and 2 free deserts.
Luckily as we were eating, I texted my Dad a few pictures of our meals but I’m still bummed that I can’t share all the ones I lost with you.

Anyhoo…we had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. The service was fabulously friendly.
I started off by ordering the Chicken Lettuce Wraps.

20110910-094532.jpg

Marinated cucumber and red pepper salad, sweet matchstick carrots, bean sprouts and crisp fried wonton noodles. Served with diced roast chicken breast, sautéed mushrooms, garlic, ginger, and toasted sesame seeds and crisp iceberg lettuce for wrapping. Served on the side was Asian peanut and sweet & sour sauces for dipping. This was so delicious. I’d order it as a meal next time.

My Mom ordered the Jumbo Combo.

20110910-094437.jpg
An array of their popular appetizers like Santa Fé Spring Rolls, Hickory-Smoked Chicken Wings, Onion Rings, Potato Skins and Tupelo Chicken Tenders.
I had a few nibbles and they all tasted fantastic.

For my entree, I ordered the Grilled Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon.

The filet was topped with a Merlot garlic butter sauce. It was served with sautéed vegetables and confetti rice on the side. Wow! The sauce was fabulous! I was not disappointed by any means in my choice.

For desert, (no picture…hhhmmmppphh) we ordered crème brûlée and a chocolate peanut butter pie. Both were served in little parfait glasses. My brûlée was full of sugar and almost too sweet but my mom disagreed. She really liked it. Her chocolate peanut butter pie was sweet and salty. I enjoyed her choice better.
There was way too much food so we got doggy bags to take home. It was a lovely night out and I’m happy to say that the Hard Rock Cafe in Tampa is now a favorite of mine.

Thanksgiving In A Bottle

Todd and I finally got a night to ourselves while my Mom watched Tyler. Pumpkin Beer! Here we come!

20110909-032111.jpg

We went to a local bar called Brass Tap which is right down the road from us. Brass Tap is a beer bar that has over 300 different beers along with cigars and wine. Their selection includes bottled and draft beers.

I was delighted when the bartender said that they carried Shipyard’s Pumpkinhead Ale.

The first sip was sheer pumpkin pie heaven. The sublte spices left my mouth feeling like a Thanksgiving desert. Hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin caressed my throat while the aroma filled my whiffer. This beer went down fast.

Once I finished the Pumpkinhead, I decided to try another pumpkin flavored beer. I went with Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale. This ale did not fancy my taste buds. It was a darker, sweeter, caramelly beer. The after taste was not pleasant and it kind of tasted soapy. I was disapointed that the 8% ABV ale wasn’t as pleasurable as the Shipyard. But you win some and then you lose some.

At least the pumpkin flavored beer gave me a taste of Fall which is quickly on its way. Good bye hot, smeltering, humid weather. Bring on the cool brisk air! Fill my tastebuds with the spices of the season!

Move Your Body

Hi, how’s your Friday going? Fabulous I hope!

I found this little gem growing on our Persian Lime tree.

I’d love to have a bunch of fruit trees growing in my back yard. Not only would it provide fun and food for my family but it would create a luscious landscape. I am also trying to grow an avocado tree. It’s growing slowly but hopefully in due time it will give me fruit.

Do you grow any of your own vegetables or fruits at home?

I finished my 3 day detox. I lost 3 lbs and I’m happy about it. It’s definitely hard just eating spinach, raspberries, yogurt, eggs, and almonds. My taste buds really got tired of the tart raspberries and the spinach. I can tell a difference in my stomach. It’s not bloated anymore. So this brings me to the decision of how I want to get in cardio to help with my weight loss. I started off walking Tyler in his stroller after he was born but the Summer/Fall Florida weather doesn’t always allow for a dry walk. It rains almost everyday. Not to mention it being hot and very humid.  I don’t have any time to go to a gym yet. Being a full-time stay at home Mom doesn’t really allow for that. So I’ve tried to research different workout dvds for the home.

I have a few workout dvds already. I tried the Tracy Anderson Method Post Pregnancy Workout but the workouts were extremely hard. I really don’t think it was made for anyone who wasn’t ripped before pregnancy. You had to have abs of steel to keep up and finish her workout. I wasn’t impressed with the classical music choice either. The music was slow so I got bored with it.

I have the P90x dvds. I used to workout to them in 2010. Hoping it would motivate me, I put on my tennis shoes and popped in the dvds.  Unfortunately, I just wasn’t in the mood for Tony Horton and his jumping. Again…the music bored me.

I also have some Pilates dvds but I don’t feel like doing any floor exercises.

I want an upbeat, move your body, shake your butt workout!!

One of my favorite bloggers has posted about Chalene Johnson’s Turbofire dvds. She even posted a home video on her blog of her working out to one of the dvds. It looks really fun. The dvds include high intensity interval training meaning, you work hard for 1 minute and then rest, work hard, and rest… But, I’m not ready to spend $150 for the set. I found the Greatest HIITS DVD Remix on Amazon for $22.39. I’m hoping that if I try the Remix dvd that it will give me a better idea if it’s worth the big investment to get the complete set.

Do you have an exercise routine? If so, what is it and how often do you exercise?

Cinch Day 2 + Freebie Stuff

Day 2 of the Cinch fast forward is almost over. I really can’t wait till I can plan my own meal again.
I’ve had my egg scramble breakfast with a side of raspberries

20110907-092421.jpg

and I just had my lunch parfait which is just yogurt, raspberries and almonds.

I still have a spinach salad

20110907-092437.jpg

and a raspberry smoothie to eat today.

I’m halfway done with the detox. I chose to only do it for 3 days instead of the 5 this time to help get me back on track.

I had to get some coffee in though since we still aren’t sleeping through the night. 🙂 Look at him eyeing it. Ha!

One of my plans for this blog is to help you find deals and bargains. I told you about my couponing before on my Just Dance blog and now I’ll share a hint to get free stuff.

Walmart has samples periodically that you can request on their website. I’ll post them when I come across them on my  Deals page.
Here is an example…
A few weeks ago I requested Suave samples. This is what came in the mail yesterday from Walmart. Pretty cool for being free!

20110907-092411.jpg

Right now Walmart is offering a free Playtex sample. (while supplies last) Just click on the word the underlined words to go the sites.

(I figured out the links finally) 🙂

Other companies offer free samples. Here are a few that I’ve found…

Hugo boss

Rachael Ray dog food

Prilosec otc

Scrubbing Bubbles GiftPack

Spark Energy

Christie Brinkley Skincare

Here are some restaurant coupons for free stuff…

Carvel Ice Cream

Arby’s

Waffle House

Coldstone Creamery

Einstein Bros Bagels

I’ll be on the lookout for more freebies. Time for me to go eat my spinach salad before Tyler gets up from his nap.

What are your favorite diets?

Day 1 of the Cinch Fast Forward started for me today.

20110906-032739.jpg
Breakfast was a spinach egg scramble with a side of raspberries and sliced almonds.
Lunch was a yogurt parfait which included raspberries, yogurt, and almonds.
I’m hungry and already can’t wait for this detox part to be over.
The fast forward/detox is supposed to rid your body of water weight and bloat while making you appreciate natural flavors.
I have 2 more meals to eat today…
A spinach salad and a raspberry smoothie.

This morning, Tyler had a pediatrician appointment for 2 more immunizations.

20110906-034605.jpg

20110906-040606.jpg

The office was full of sick children. I’m still not over this dang head cold. Today I feel worse again. Sneezing every 10 minutes is not fun.

Tyler didn’t seem too distraught about the shots. He cried for about 30 seconds and then started showing off his dimples.

We came home to our cable being out. Apparently many cities were out too. Not sure if it had something to do with this.

20110906-041149.jpg

The cable just came on but my Internet is still down.

I’ll be sneezing and counting down the minutes till my next meal while waiting for Internet usage. See you later!

Please leave me a comment suggesting what diet you’ve had success with. I’m open to many suggestions and ideas. 🙂

Black Bean Burgers

The internet is working!! Can I get a Woot Woot?!

I want to update about the Black Bean Burgers that I made Monday night although I can’t figure out how to utilize my links now. Ugghhh! I need to read WordPress for Dummies.

I found the recipe on one of my favorite blogs the Fitnessista. http://fitnessista.com/2011/09/impromptu-grill-party/

She had found the recipe from another blog called the Daily Garnish. http://www.dailygarnish.com/2010/05/vegan-bean-burger-recipe.html

I’m a fan of both bloggers.

I started by grinding my pumpkin seeds in my food processor.

20110906-100052.jpg

Then I did the same with the oats.

20110906-100100.jpg

Grated my carrots and added my canned black beans. Then I added all the yum seasonings.

20110906-100108.jpg

Made my patties and placed them on a baking sheet.

20110906-100116.jpg

Baked for 30 minutes at 300 degrees and then I threw them on the grill for about 8 more minutes just to get a grilled taste.

20110906-100127.jpg

Tada! Garnished with romaine and Ranch dressing on whole wheat bread.

They were spicy good.

I didn’t have any ideas on what to make on the side so I had them by themselves.

What side item would you eat with the burgers? And what condiment would you put on them?

Lazy Blog

Today I went all out and ate whatever I wanted since I’m starting the “Cinch 5 day fast forward” tomorrow. I’ll only be partaking in it for 3 days though. I had leftovers for brunch which were from last nights dinner.

Chicken and Yellow Rice

20110905-100438.jpg

Todd went to Whole Foods and found Pumpkin Ale for me.

20110905-100558.jpg
So we had that with dinner last night.

Today I replanted all of my orchids.
(11 of them)

20110905-100741.jpg

20110905-100652.jpg
It was super windy from the storm bands today.

20110905-101304.jpg
So we enjoyed being outside along with some more Pumpkin Ale.

20110905-101410.jpg
For dinner, I made Black Bean Burgers.

20110905-101612.jpg
I got the recipe off another Blog…Daily Garnish.
I’ll post the link tomorrow. (I usually update my blog using my IPhone. That’s why there are usually grammatical errors and no links.) Lazy? Yes, but I’m a Mom of a 5 month old who doesn’t sleep through the night and sometimes the only chance I get to update my blog is through my phone.

I’m off to read everyone else’s blog updates. See you tomorrow!
