Cinch Day 2 + Freebie Stuff

Day 2 of the Cinch fast forward is almost over. I really can’t wait till I can plan my own meal again.
I’ve had my egg scramble breakfast with a side of raspberries

and I just had my lunch parfait which is just yogurt, raspberries and almonds.

I still have a spinach salad

and a raspberry smoothie to eat today.

I’m halfway done with the detox. I chose to only do it for 3 days instead of the 5 this time to help get me back on track.

I had to get some coffee in though since we still aren’t sleeping through the night. 🙂 Look at him eyeing it. Ha!

One of my plans for this blog is to help you find deals and bargains. I told you about my couponing before on my Just Dance blog and now I’ll share a hint to get free stuff.

Walmart has samples periodically that you can request on their website. I’ll post them when I come across them on my  Deals page.
Here is an example…
A few weeks ago I requested Suave samples. This is what came in the mail yesterday from Walmart. Pretty cool for being free!

Right now Walmart is offering a free Playtex sample. (while supplies last) Just click on the word the underlined words to go the sites.

(I figured out the links finally) 🙂

Other companies offer free samples. Here are a few that I’ve found…

Hugo boss

Rachael Ray dog food

Prilosec otc

Scrubbing Bubbles GiftPack

Spark Energy

Christie Brinkley Skincare

Here are some restaurant coupons for free stuff…

Carvel Ice Cream

Waffle House

Coldstone Creamery

Einstein Bros Bagels

I’ll be on the lookout for more freebies. Time for me to go eat my spinach salad before Tyler gets up from his nap.

What are your favorite diets?

Day 1 of the Cinch Fast Forward started for me today.

Breakfast was a spinach egg scramble with a side of raspberries and sliced almonds.
Lunch was a yogurt parfait which included raspberries, yogurt, and almonds.
I’m hungry and already can’t wait for this detox part to be over.
The fast forward/detox is supposed to rid your body of water weight and bloat while making you appreciate natural flavors.
I have 2 more meals to eat today…
A spinach salad and a raspberry smoothie.

This morning, Tyler had a pediatrician appointment for 2 more immunizations.

The office was full of sick children. I’m still not over this dang head cold. Today I feel worse again. Sneezing every 10 minutes is not fun.

Tyler didn’t seem too distraught about the shots. He cried for about 30 seconds and then started showing off his dimples.

We came home to our cable being out. Apparently many cities were out too. Not sure if it had something to do with this.

The cable just came on but my Internet is still down.

I’ll be sneezing and counting down the minutes till my next meal while waiting for Internet usage. See you later!

Please leave me a comment suggesting what diet you’ve had success with. I’m open to many suggestions and ideas. 🙂

Black Bean Burgers

The internet is working!! Can I get a Woot Woot?!

I want to update about the Black Bean Burgers that I made Monday night although I can’t figure out how to utilize my links now. Ugghhh! I need to read WordPress for Dummies.

I found the recipe on one of my favorite blogs the Fitnessista.

She had found the recipe from another blog called the Daily Garnish.

I’m a fan of both bloggers.

I started by grinding my pumpkin seeds in my food processor.

Then I did the same with the oats.

Grated my carrots and added my canned black beans. Then I added all the yum seasonings.

Made my patties and placed them on a baking sheet.

Baked for 30 minutes at 300 degrees and then I threw them on the grill for about 8 more minutes just to get a grilled taste.

Tada! Garnished with romaine and Ranch dressing on whole wheat bread.

They were spicy good.

I didn’t have any ideas on what to make on the side so I had them by themselves.

What side item would you eat with the burgers? And what condiment would you put on them?

Lazy Blog

Today I went all out and ate whatever I wanted since I’m starting the “Cinch 5 day fast forward” tomorrow. I’ll only be partaking in it for 3 days though. I had leftovers for brunch which were from last nights dinner.

Chicken and Yellow Rice

Todd went to Whole Foods and found Pumpkin Ale for me.

So we had that with dinner last night.

Today I replanted all of my orchids.
(11 of them)

It was super windy from the storm bands today.

So we enjoyed being outside along with some more Pumpkin Ale.

For dinner, I made Black Bean Burgers.

I got the recipe off another Blog…Daily Garnish.
I’ll post the link tomorrow. (I usually update my blog using my IPhone. That’s why there are usually grammatical errors and no links.) Lazy? Yes, but I’m a Mom of a 5 month old who doesn’t sleep through the night and sometimes the only chance I get to update my blog is through my phone.

I’m off to read everyone else’s blog updates. See you tomorrow!

This and That

Staying on track is pretty difficult for me. I’ve always been the type to start something and not finish it. Boredom prevails and I end up quitting. Is this why I can’t stick to a healthy diet? I don’t know. This weekend I totally went off the deep end…with the pizza cookoff, beer, and Dunkin Donuts. But I think a major problem is the balance of the very thin bank account. It would be much easier to eat healthy and cook good foods with a fat bank account. This weekend has been tight so I just had to eat what we had which led to drinking away the sorrow. Isn’t it funny how hard it is to lose weight but how fast it is to put it back on? I’ve already gained 2 lbs in 2 days. This is why I have decided to read a new diet book called the “Flat Belly Diet”. I was intrigued by it because the author of “Cinch”, Cynthia Sass, was also a big part of the book “Flat Belly Diet”. I started reading it in new hopes of achieving yet another weight loss goal but I’m not sure that I’m excited about the plan. Like the “Cinch” book, it requires a slight detox that lasts 4 days. The “Cinch” had a 5 day “fast forward” detox with 4 ingredients. Thinking that the “Flat Belly Diet” would be similar, I started reading. Much to my dissatisfaction, I found out that this plan requires 34 ingredients…JUST FOR THE 4 DAYS. Uggghhhh! Me no likey! I guess I’ll continue reading but I’m more likely to do another “Cinch” detox. I lost 10 lbs while on the “Cinch” plan. I want to lose another 10 but I’ve been stuck at the same weight for a few weeks. Again…me no likey. I now see why so many people are overweight…it’s cheaper. Buying healthy foods is expensive and time consuming. I’m not giving up though…I demand to find a way to eat healthy while being on a tight budget while also raising a baby.

Tyler is waking from his nap. Got to go!

Monster Pizzas

Why am I still awake? Ahhh… Is it because I just woke my heart up dancing to the Wii game Just Dance? Why yes…yes it is. Adrenaline, heart, blood…all flowing like 186 miles an hour. Now I know why they say not to exercise before bed. Hhhmmmpppphhh so I’m the only one awake here.

My plans for going out were misconbobulated due to Todds truck battery dying. No bueno. 😦 We were both not in the mood by the time he got home so we went to the store for dinner options.

We decided on a pizza cook off.

I chose a vegetarian menu while he chose the latter. My mom would be the judge.

I scraped up these ingredients…

Rolled out my dough…

While he prepped his ingredients…Frying bacon and chicken.

with a white Alfredo sauce.

I went to work on my pizza toppings.

My secret ingredient…goat cheese.
My pizza before going into the oven…

And Todd’s…

While we wait, nice cold beer calls our names.

I admit, I’m worried. His looks pretty darn good.

My vegetarian beast of a pizza came out looking like this…

I’m glad I’m not judging. These pizza monsters are mmm mmm good.

I may have had more than the slices shown. 🙂
I was voted off the island tonight…Todd’s white sauce demon won.

But I’m a winner because I have leftovers. Muwahahaha!!!!!

Fried Up Friday

Ohhhhh my computer is fried! I can’t figure out how to use Twitter. (I used to be computer savvy but Twitter baffles me.)
I don’t think I’ll ever catch up on my sleep so that means my brain is fried too. Oh and I’m totally off my diet!
I was bad… Very very bad. I got this…

(whispering now) and a donut. Ssshhh!
A caramel apple donut from DD.
Wow Yum! If it weren’t 87 degrees out I’d say it felt like Fall but it’s HOT!

But very pretty.

Todd wants to go out tonight so I’m trying to decide on where to go. I’m craving pumpkin beer. My first choice might be to go to Brass Tap.

But we will see… For now, I get to tell Todd that he needs to mow the yard. Yuck! The dogs won’t even go out in it. I don’t blame them. It rains every day which makes the grass grow like we feed it Miracle Grow.

(It’s worse than it looks.)

The coffee and donut has given me a caffeine/sugar rush so I better go feed Tyler before I bounce off the walls.

See you later!

A Nap with Pesto

Baby Tyler isn’t sleeping through the night. By the time I fall asleep he’s ready for a bottle. Then 2-3 hours later he’s ready for more. He’s been restless since 5:45 this morning which equals a tired mommy. I so need a nap!

Thank goodness I didn’t have to fuss over my breakfast. Overnight oats were waiting for me this morning. Oats, milk, chia seeds, banana, walnuts, and cacao powder topped with fresh juicy sliced cherries.

Oops! How’d he get in there?

I can’t believe that summer is almost over. I spent most of it in the shade and in doors with Tyler. Thank goodness because this was not a good bathing suit season for me. I’m not sure if I’m ready for winter yet. I love fall though. My a/c unit could use a vacation. Opening the windows would be lovely.

What are some of the things you look forward to in the fall?

The pantry is running low on ingredients so I had to concoct a meal with what’s left. I came up with Pesto Baked Chicken and Sweet Potato Fries.

I used 2 chicken breasts and cut them into strips. Then coated the bottom of the pan with pesto sauce. I use this brand…

Then I put the chicken on top of the pesto

and then coated the top of the strips with more green stuff. I mean pesto.

Covered it with foil… Like this…

What? I like taking pictures. 😉
And baked at 350 for 22 minutes.
The chicken wasn’t completely cooked yet so I added fresh mozzarella cheese and baked for another 10 minutes.

Flavorful + Easy + Cheap = A Happy Mom = Me

Guess I better go make my grocery list.
See you tomorrow!

Fig-tabulous !

Where did the day go? Tyler has kept me on my tippy toes today.

I woke up and had overnight oats topped with fresh figs for breakfast.

Then we had a little visit from my Dad…aka Tyler’s Grandpa 🙂 … for lunch. He came over bearing movies and homemade chicken soup.

I’m a chicken soup snob. I was spoiled growing up eating my Abuela’s homemade chicken soup. I just won’t eat any other soup. Forget canned soup…blech! I even tried replicating her recipe years ago but failed miserably. She just had that touch and put in so much love when she made it. I miss her so much.

The soup my Dad brought was very delicious though. A lot of chicken, not too many noodles, just enough vegetables, and a taste of ginger. I’m feeling better already. Thanks Dad!

After our visit and Tyler’s nap, I started getting hungry again so I made a jalapeño and hummus sandwich.

With a side of veggies

And yep… More figs.

I’ve got to go catch some beauty sleep before my little monkey wakes up for a late night feeding. Have a great night!

Apricot Fig Glazed Pork Chops

Finally! After cough drop after cough drop, aspirins every 4 hours, and Nyquil every night, I finally feel 75% better. I was able to get up early this morning and eat the breakfast I made the night before. OOIAJ! Overnight oats in a jar!! I’ve read so many other bloggers raving about this and had the opportunity to try it after scraping the last tid bits of our Skippy jar.

I combined oats, almond milk, blueberries, and cinnamon and stashed it away in the fridge overnight. I woke up early this morning and breakfast was waiting for me.

I was a bit apprehensive about the whole idea of it but was surprised at the peanut buttery yumminess in almost every bite. Let’s just say I ate the whole thing and I can’t wait till the next peanut butter jar is empty again.
I’m shocked at the simplicity of the whole thing. And being a relatively new sleep deprived mom…simplicity freaking rocks. You can now add me to the OOIAJ fan club.

Tyler has been teething the past few days. Poor little guy… The doctor said to give him Tylenol but I don’t want to do that too often. I’m pretty sure our bodies become immune to medications if we use them too frequently. So I read up on some info about teething online and heard frozen celery aids in the teething dilemma. We tried it and Tyler seemed to like the feeling of it.

For lunch today I had toast with Laughing Cow Spreadable Cheese and a sliced tomato. I adore spreadable cheeses. They make my taste buds smile.

Todd pondered for about 2 hours on what he wanted for dinner. It first started off with steaks. Then switched to pork chops. Then to seafood and finally back to pork chops. I was happy with his decision because I wanted to use the figs I still had in the fridge. While he prepped the choppys, I made a apricot fig glaze for them. Out came a saucepan…and …

Apricot preserves, Ginger paste, Braggs,

Figs, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes.
I let the flavors simmer together…

While these bad boys (dusted in cayenne pepper and cinnamon) cooked on the grill.

All this cooking made us thirsty so we sipped on this…

Oh I can’t forget our sweet potato fries… Cut up, put on a pan covered in coconut oil then drizzled with olive oil, and sprinkled with more cayenne pepper, salt, sugar, and cinnamon.

Dinner is served!

The sweet apricot fig glaze met the spiciness of the cayenne in a clash that is indescribable. These were the tastiest pork chops I’ve sank my teeth into.
My palate is more than satisfied. A couple more beers to wash it all down and Im off to watch a movie with Todd. See ya mañana.
